Celebrating Art.com Competition Announcement - Dec. 2015
4 students have had artwork selected to be published by Celebrating Art.com, an online art competition that publishes the artwork vs. hanging a show. This allows students from all states to participate and be recognized. It is a judged and juried competition. Congratulations go to Abby Nichter, Devin Foster, Camille Colletti, and Emelia Thomas.
The Bloom-Carroll HS Art Department has formed a community partnership with Carroll Place (assisted living facility).
This partnership began last May when their director emailed me asking if we would be able to do a mural for them. Since he contacted me later in May we decided to do the mural this fall, and hang pictures done by students to fill the void during the summer months. Monday, October 20th, three of our senior artists (Danielle Kirk, Tristen Livengood and Azariah Brown) and I were able to go to Carroll Place and paint a mural for them. They requested a "family tree" on which they are going to hang family photos.
They were so pleased they have asked us to do another mural in the near future and hang some more pictures.
I can't tell you how wonderful it was to interact with some of the residents as they watched us paint, some of them watched for almost an hour. This experience was very valuable to all involved.
2nd mural completed at Carroll Place. Thank-you Danielle Kirk and Tristen Livengood for dedicating your time to such a worthy cause!
